The North Star Women’s Firefighter Association is happy to announce that we have received a grant from the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education. With this grant, we will be bringing Jona Olsson to Minnesota for 2 days of classes. Jona is the Chief of the Latir Volunteer Fire Department in Northern New Mexico, and is also the Director of Cultural Bridges to Justice.
There will be 2 different classes, 4 hours each, with a roundtable and lunch in between. The classes will be held on Saturday, and then repeated on Sunday. The morning class, “When I Doubt Myself”, is open to women only. Lunch will be served during the Roundtable Discussion with Jona and local officers. All firefighters and officers are welcome to attend the lunch/roundtable, as well as the afternoon session, “Challenging Sexism and Racism in Fire & Emergency Services.
The flyer with more information about each session, Jona Olsson’s Bio, and the registration form are attached. Training Flyer.pdf
